Our research
The rural region of northern Saxony-Anhalt is particularly affected by demographic change. This has led to far-reaching challenges in medical care, such as an increasing shortage of doctors, supply bottlenecks, existing barriers to accessing specialized medical treatment due to long distances, limited emergency care, and untapped potential in the field of new digital care models.
Our project, LäKoSA (Rural Cohort Saxony-Anhalt), has therefore set itself the task of researching the medical care situation in the districts of Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel over several years, with the continuous involvement of the people in the region. This will create the scientific foundation for a tailored and sustainable design for medical care in the region.
LäKoSA is a sub-project of the joint project ISA (Implementation Research Saxony-Anhalt), which explores the opportunities offered by innovative methods and new care models for northern Saxony-Anhalt.
Starting in early 2026, residents in the districts of Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel will be surveyed about their medical care—you can participate either by mail or online.
The survey will be conducted every six months, with a total of four survey periods currently planned through mid-2027. The questionnaire covers the use of medical services and personal experiences with healthcare. It also collects assessments of your own mental and physical health, as well as health-related behaviors.
The goal of the survey is to gain an accurate picture of local healthcare services in order to initiate targeted, practical improvements.
We look forward to your participation. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
Join now!During our community discussion meeting, we invite residents from the Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel districts to share their personal perspectives, opinions, and experiences regarding current medical care. We will also focus on identifying needs and potential solutions for future healthcare services that are tailored to the community.
The goal is to gain an authentic understanding of public sentiment and gather concrete insights to ensure that future medical care is specifically aligned with the actual needs of people in the region. The findings will be incorporated directly into the design of our written survey, helping to ensure that our research in 2026 and 2027 is precisely tailored to the needs of the population.
Contribute your own experiences to the LäKoSA project. Please feel free to get in touch with us.
Join now!To gain a comprehensive overview of medical care in the districts of Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, we are conducting interviews with a wide range of local and regional stakeholders.
Representatives from local and state government, public health departments, health insurance providers, and other relevant institutions, as well as regional healthcare providers, are sharing their professional insights and valuable experience. These expert perspectives enrich the findings from our group meetings and ensure that the LäKoSA project can develop medical care in the region in a holistic and practical way.
If you are a regional healthcare provider and would like to be interviewed by us, please feel free to get in touch.
Join now!In addition to the written surveys, we are planning biannual Public information events in the districts of Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel. These events will provide citizens and regional stakeholders with the opportunity to get first-hand updates on the current status and progress of the LäKoSA project.
At the same time, we invite you to actively share your own experiences, suggestions, and perspectives. The events also offer an open platform for direct dialogue regarding the latest developments in medical care, regional challenges, and ongoing research. Our goal is to involve all participants transparently and work together to shape the future of healthcare.
