Focus group on medical care in Gardelegen

27.08.2025

On August 26, 2025, six citizens aged 40 and over met at Gardelegen City Hall to discuss medical care in their region.

During the discussion, the participants highlighted issues, particularly regarding specialist medical care . They cited long waiting times, a lack of local services, and, in some cases, long travel distances. Primary care is currently still perceived as stable, but many expressed concerns about a potential decline in the coming years due to demographic change . A recurring point was also the limited mobility, which makes both doctor appointments and hospital stays difficult for patients and their families.

The hospital care and psychotherapeutic services in and around Gardelegen were highlighted as positive. At the same time, specific requests were made, including new centralized specialist care, measures to recruit medical professionals, and mobile primary care services.

The project team would like to thank all participants and the City of Gardelegen for their support.
